Our solution is to create an effective revalorization of non-recyclable plastics, in order to drastically reduce its leakage into natural systems and landfill, and to use it, together with renewable energies, to produce clean ready-to-use fuel, compliant with existing engines and industries. As a result, the environment is less subject to littering, land is saved from landfill destination and CO2 emissions are greatly reduced. The production of fuel is local (no extraction, refining and transportation), incineration of plastics is avoided and the produced fuel has a low sulphur content.

How it works*

Step 1.

Renewable electricity, purchased from electric grid, and non-recyclable plastics are injected into the system.

Step 2.

A thermal conversion process in absence of oxygen (no combustion, no CO2 emissions) is performed.

Step 3.

3 outputs are obtained:
– Liquid low-carbon fuels (product A benzine-like, product B diesel-like);
– Syngas: covering the process energy need when no renewable energy is available from the electric grid;
– Char: used in agriculture, construction, cement plant.

ENVIRONMENTAL GAINS

Plastic littering reduction:
– recycling is promoted by the increase in the value of waste
– Waste plastics are not landfilled and will not leak into the environment.

CO2 emissions reduction:
– Fuel local production: no need for extraction, refining and transportation,

– 70% CO2 savings compared to fossil fuels, no incineration of waste plastics.

PLASTIC WASTE TARGET

The feedstock is non-recyclable plastics, normally destined to landfill or incineration (with known CO2 emissions issues).
Waste plastic materials used in the process are:

High Density Polyethylene (e.g. shopping bag, detergent bottles)

Low Density Polyethylene (e.g. food packaging)

Polypropylene (e.g. microwave dishes, food containers)

Polystyrene (e.g. plastic cutlery, hot drink cups, take-away clamshells)
